2025:
An Infinite Stretch to the Line

In May, make an infinite stretch to the line part of your Friday night routine, accomplishing more than you ever thought possible. Every week, kilometres or centimetres from the finish, a point will come where you sense the line ahead. This wake-up call will be the reminder that you need to stretch yourself forward and push beyond your maximum. Time is running out and this will be your final chance to make a difference; the difference you crave.
I cannot tell you how though. It is only during this moment that the path will show itself. The end will appear infinitely distant, yet you could almost reach out and touch it, making a final acceleration so tempting. If you take the risk without hesitation, you can stretch to the line and pull it towards you, breaking personal bests, I promise.
Every poster for these challenging events are a perfect capture of our brave heroes making that decision and stretching to the line, disregarding all limitations, reaching forward with everything they had... and everything they didn’t know they had.
During the 2024 National Hillclimb, I experienced this myself, turning the final corner and seeing the crowds, guiding me to the top. It was so near, yet so far and it seemed like ‘an infinite stretch to the line’. With that phrase in my mind during that effort, a former Hillclimb champion of ours, Mike Stretch, popped into my head for a split second. I thought "What would he do? He'd get out of the saddle and get stuck in"... so I did. We need to take that ethos into 2025 and become more Stretch-like when the crunch time hits, in every sense of the word.
